Man and van

Man and van in Ilford

Same crews, same blankets, smaller scale — and priced by the job rather than by a clock. The only useful question is whether a van is the right size for what you are moving.

In scope

  1. 01One room out of a shared house or HMO
  2. 02An HMO changeover, one tenant out and another in
  3. 03A studio or part-furnished flat
  4. 04One heavy or awkward item — sofa, wardrobe, upright piano, garage freezer
  5. 05A student move at the start or end of term
  6. 06Part of a house going into storage while the rest waits

Out of scope

  1. 01A full two-bed flat with a working kitchen
  2. 02Anything needing a booked lift and a reserved bay
  3. 03A job where fragile items need packing as well as carrying
  4. 04A long run up the A12 or the M25

Each of those looks like a van job and becomes an expensive one. Describe yours and if it is really a flat removal or a house move, we will say so before quoting.

Man and van — questions

How is it priced?

By the job, from what you tell us and what we see. Not by a clock you watch while somebody carries boxes slowly.

Same handling as a full move?

Yes. Blankets in the room, corner protection, floors covered. This is the service where most firms quietly drop the standard.

One person or two?

Depends on the load, the floor and whether there is a lift. Stairs and heavy items want two.

Packing help?

Materials and a hand with the awkward things. A genuine full pack is a different service, quoted as one.

Barking and Woodford?

All of the IG postcodes and the roads around them. Parking is the practical constraint rather than distance.

Take away what I am not keeping?

No. Clearance and waste carriage need a different licence and it is not a trade we are in.

Something small to move?

Tell us what it is, which floor it is on and where it is going.
