Flat removals in Ilford
Four questions decide a flat move. Each has a different person who can answer it, and none of them can answer it on the morning.
- Which floor, and is there a lift? You, in one line
- It sets the crew size and the time on site before anything else does. A third floor without a lift is not a harder job than a ground floor — it is a different job, quoted differently.
- Will the lift take furniture? We measure it
- Depth, width, height and whether the doors stay open. Plenty of blocks here have a lift sized for people and nothing else, and knowing that turns a crisis into a load-order decision.
- What does the building require? The managing agent
- A booking, a reserved bay, protection fitted, insurance details in advance. Standard in the Barking riverside developments. We ask them directly rather than hoping.
- Where can a vehicle stand? Redbridge, usually
- Most older streets are controlled. A dispensation or a suspended bay needs applying for with notice, so the road is one of the first things we ask about.
Flat removals — questions
Third floor, no lift?
Ordinary in the conversions here. It changes crew size and time on site, both of which come out of the survey.
Will the sofa come down?
Sometimes not, and far better known at the survey. It comes apart, goes out through a window with an equipped crew, or stays.
Our Barking block wants the lift booked.
Normal. We speak to the concierge or agent, book the lift and bay for a window, fit whatever protection is required, and build the load order around it.
Insurance details in advance?
Send the building requirements as early as you can — several will not admit a crew without them.
One room out of an HMO?
Usually better as a man-and-van job. Same wrapping standard, smaller vehicle, priced by the job.
