House removals
House removals in Ilford
The survey is a document, not a formality. Five things go into it, and between them they are the whole reason a figure holds.
- Room by room
- Contents described rather than counted, because a carton count tells you nothing about weight, fragility or how long a room takes to pack.
- Loft and garage, opened
- The two spaces that decide whether a quote holds. In Goodmayes and Seven Kings a converted loft is a full room that the listing calls a bedroom count.
- Hall width and stair turn
- Measured against the largest pieces. In an Edwardian terrace this decides what physically leaves the house, and it is not something a photograph answers.
- The street
- Permit or not, width, and where a vehicle can legally stand. In most of Ilford this needs a dispensation from Redbridge, and the council wants notice.
- Anything unusual
- Value, weight, fragility. Recorded so it is properly accounted for under the cover in your quotation rather than discovered afterwards.
Ilford houses, by type
- Edwardian and Victorian terraces
- Bay front, narrow hall, half-landing turn. The route out is the job.
- Interwar semis
- Gants Hill and Newbury Park. Driveways and garages make the kerb easy and the total heavy.
- Post-war and estate housing
- Barking and the edges. Straightforward access; volume rises steeply with length of tenancy.
- Detached and larger houses
- Woodford and South Woodford. More crew, longer carries, frequently a move out of London.
If yours is a period terrace, the route matters more than anything above — see terrace and period homes.
House removals — questions
What gets recorded at the survey?
Everything on this page — rooms, loft, garage, hall, stairs, street and anything unusual. It is a document, and the quote is built from it.
We have a loft conversion.
Then the volume is higher than the listing implies, and the staircase to it is usually narrower than the one below. Mention it at the first conversation.
Can you move us on completion day?
Most local house moves are. Completion times slip — we plan for it, and storage bridges the gap if the chain breaks.
Beds and wardrobes?
Apart by hand, fixings bagged and labelled to the frame, rebuilt at the other end.
What about what we are not taking?
It stays. Clearance and waste carriage are a different trade under a different licence.
