FAQ
Questions, answered
Everything people actually ask, roughly in the order they ask it. Where the honest answer is that it depends, that is what it says.
What do you cover?
Ilford and the IG postcodes — Goodmayes, Seven Kings, Gants Hill, Barking and the Woodfords — plus the east-London roads that border us. Outside that we name a better firm rather than stretch.
How is the price set?
Somebody surveys the property first. That produces a room-by-room record; the record produces the figure. Nothing is priced from a postcode and a bedroom count.
Does it change on the day?
Not if the property matches the record. Where something genuinely changes, you hear it before we act on it — never afterwards on an invoice.
Can a vehicle park outside?
On most Ilford roads, with planning. Controlled streets get a dispensation from Redbridge; roads too narrow for a full-size vehicle get a shuttle. Settled before the morning.
Who packs?
You, us, or both. Full pack, part pack — usually kitchen and anything framed — or materials delivered in advance.
Why no instant calculator?
A number from two postcodes and a bedroom count cannot know about the loft conversion, the side return, the hall width or the permit street. In Ilford at least one of those is true of nearly every house.
Our hall is narrow.
Standard in the terraces here, and a measuring question rather than a problem. The hall and the half-landing turn are measured against the largest pieces before anything is lifted.
Loft conversion and side return?
Both add volume a bedroom count misses entirely, and both are very common in Goodmayes and Seven Kings. Mention them early and the figure covers them from the start.
Larger houses in Woodford?
Regularly. More volume, more crew, longer approaches. Same method, longer day — and a good share finish outside London.
Do you cover Barking?
Properly, not as an afterthought. Riverside blocks run booked lifts and reserved bays; older streets run permits. Both are ordinary work.
HMOs and shared houses?
Often. One room out is usually a man-and-van job; a whole changeover is a full removal with more labelling. Both are normal here.
Office and business moves?
Yes — High Road units, small offices and light industrial around Ilford and Barking. Usually out of hours.
Piano?
Uprights, with the right crew and equipment. Grands and specialist instruments go to a specialist — heavyremovals.uk in our network carries that work.
Storage?
Containerised, between dates. We pack it, list it on the way in, deliver it back out when the dates settle. Not a self-storage unit you rent and load yourself.
If completion slips?
Constant, in a chain. Storage bridges it and the load travels when the date is genuinely firm.
Do you clear the house?
No. Clearance and waste carriage are a different trade under a different licence. We take away our own packing materials and nothing else.
Appliance disconnection?
Gas, plumbed and hard-wired work needs a qualified engineer. We plan the day around their visit and will not do it ourselves.
Out of London?
Often. The A406, the A12 and the M25 are close. One job, one crew, both ends — no depot handover.
Abroad?
France, Spain, Italy and Portugal, by road. The declaration is built from the survey record and lodged before the vehicle travels.
How long does a European move take?
It depends on route, on dedicated against shared scheduling, and on clearance at the far end. Your quote sets out an expected window rather than a reassuring figure.
Is it covered?
Cover is in place and its terms — what is covered, the limits, the exclusions — are set out in your quotation. Read them before booking and flag anything of unusual value.
When should we book?
Early, especially for a Friday or a month-end. Dispensations need notice and crews get committed first. Short-notice work is taken; we will say honestly what is possible.
Why no reviews on this site?
Because we have not collected any. A score we could not substantiate would undercut the only thing this site claims. Real ones will appear with real names against them.
Still not sure?
Ask us directly. If we do not know, we will say so rather than inventing an answer.
